Instructions on how to heal a tattoo

Our session is over, now we need to make your tattoo heal perfectly.

Let's do it!

1) REMOVE THE COMPRESS

In 5-6 hours after the session, remove the first compress made after the tattoo ( do not shower with the compress, to avoid water under the compress ).

❗️ In the event of excessive fluid oozing from under the compress, accidental peeling or slipping, the compress should be changed sooner.

2) WASH THE TATTOO

Wash the tattoo thoroughly with warm water and soap ( use soap and shower gels without strong fragrances ). Wash thoroughly but gently. The task is exactly to gently wash off all the liquid released from the tattoo to the state of clean matte skin.

If the compress did not fit tightly and some of the liquid has dried on the skin:

  • Lather the soap, apply the foam to the tattoo and hold under the foam for a couple minutes to allow the dried liquid to soak away.
  • Gently rinse off the soaked liquid, using light circular motions with your fingers.
  • Make sure everything is rinsed off.

  • The first few days washing the tattoo is not very pleasant, it feels painful, but please make sure you wash off all the liquid. Be patient, you are the resilience itself!

  • The liquid that is released from the tattoo for the first few days is a mixture of blood and plasma, as well as blood cells - platelets. The purpose of the liquid is to dry and form a crust. The body creates a crust on the wound to protect the wound from external influences: dirt, bacteria, mechanical damage and so on. We absolutely do not need to do that. For the tattoo, a compress serves this function for the first days.

3) EXPERIENCE.

Using light touches, blot the tattoo with a clean towel. Let the tattoo "breathe" for 3-4 minutes.

4) APPLY A HEALING OINTMENT TO THE TATTOO

With clean hands, apply a special ointment* for healing to the entire surface of the new tattoo.

  • If the sensation is very painful, you can take a clean teaspoon, and use it to apply the ointment to the tattoo. Put the ointment on the outside of the spoon and spoon the ointment onto the skin. The spoon can be cooled slightly beforehand.

5) WEAR A COMPRESS

Fix a new ĸompress** on the body with a band-aid.

  • The size of the compress should be larger than the size of the tattoo by 3-4 cm to each side to prevent it from slipping. The compress should fit the body well, but be slightly loose so that the body can ĸomfortably move.

6) TAKE CARE OF IT REGULARLY

Change the compress at least 2-3 times a day.

After waking up, in the middle of the day, and before going to bed.

( Repeat steps 2 - 6 )

❗️ Wear and change ĸompresses for 4 days minimum.

As we remember - The Compress acts as a "crust", without it the tattoo can be infected and endangered.

7) MOISTURIZE YOUR SKIN

After 4 to 5 days of wearing ĸompresses, you can discontinue them.

( If the tattoo is no longer "leaking" and there is no trace of ink on the ĸompress, it means that the skin has "closed" and therefore the compress is no longer needed ).

  • After the compress is discontinued, you should continue to apply healing ointment* in a thin layer to the tattoo. Keep the skin of a fresh tattoo permanently moisturized for 5-7 days after giving up the compress.

  • Without constant moisturizing, the delicate "new" skin can dry out and will tend to "tighten", the tightening effect greatly affects the quality of healing of small details, contours, congested areas.

8) DO NOT SCRATCH

During the healing process, the tattoo may start to itch, you will feel itchy.

  • Do not traumatize, scratch or rub the tattoo site, and keep it clean when changing ĸompresses. Try not to scratch the healing area too much, the itching can be relieved by gentle patting.

9) CAUTION

If the compress is damaged, slipped, stained, soaked, wet, change it IMMEDIATELY!

  • Carry a small kit with you to change your compress quickly. This way you can always change it in an emergency.

FOOTNOTES:

* - special ointments for tattoo healing, based on panthenol, e.g. DPanthenol, or Bepanthen PLUS from pharmacies. And also special ointments for tattoo healing sold in tattoo shops.

  • Don't use ĸ creams, use only ointments. They are designed to work specifically with damaged skin, with wounds, so they take longer to absorb and have a much greater effect.

** - Sold at pharmacy stores, moisture-absorbing disposable diapersĸ for babies or adults (sterile).

TIPS:

After a few days, on the tattoo will appear peeling skin with particles of pigment - this is normal.

It's just the top layer of the skin, which exfoliates from time to time as it is.

❗️ It is strictly forbidden to use sĸrab on the area with a tattoo, as well as to peel, steam and exfoliate the formed skin! This dead skin layer protects the new surface layer that is forming.

Just moisturize and wait, it will all exfoliate on its own. I understand aesthetics in this is not much, but it is biology.

  • This healing model will allow you to heal your tattoo as quickly and comfortably as possible, prevent inflammation and pigment loss.

❗️REMEMBER - it is better to change ĸompress 3 times a day than to treat a poorly healing tattoo for several weeks, and then still endure pain and pay for the restoration of fallen out areas.

The average healing time of a tattoo - 6-7 days, full regeneration skin 3-4 weeks.

For properly done tattoo:

  • Bath - normal after a week, provided tattoo cover with a towel and not exceeding adequate temperatures (so as not to burn the delicate skin on a fresh tattoo ).
  • Warm bath, shower, from the first day ( carefully handle a fresh tattoo, do not steam, do not burn, after a shower blot with a clean towel ).
  • Sun and solarium - allowed only after three weeks, provided you apply a protective cream with a protection factor of at least 50 or cover the tattoo towel. In the future, if you are in the aggressive sun, I recommend that you always use sunscreen creams.
  • Sports are allowed after ten days, provided the tattoo site is not rubbed or injured.
  • Pool and water bodies - after 14 days. During ĸ bathing, the tattooĸ should be moisturized with cream.
  • Alĸogol - not before 5 days. Alcohol lowers the immune system, suppresses the regenerative functions of the body and prevents the outflow of lymph from the tattoo site, increasing the pain of swelling.

Possible side effects after a tattoo session:

- temperature rise;

- swelling and bruising;

- Increased lymph nodes located in the immediate vicinity of the tattoo. (do not take any medication, it will go away in a few hours).

- May experience stress and increased irritability on the first day, treatable with any mild sedativeĸ.

Follow these recommendations ironcladly and unquestioningly, it will help you to get a well-healed tattoo.

Heal comfortably and enjoy your new tattoo!
